Vienna Boys Choir Performs in Stratford

The best known children’s choir in the world, the Vienna Boys Choir, gave four performances in Stratford, Ont., as part of the 2013 Stratford Summer Music Festival. They were joined on Tuesday 30 July by German-Canadian tenor and Austrian Kammersänger Michael Schade, for many years a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera, who was making his début with the choir that evening.

Roland Pirker Receives “Go for Gold” Medal

The presentation ceremony took place at the Canadian Embassy
in Vienna on 29 June 2012.

Mr. Roland Pirker (right), one of the recipients

the ceremony on 29 June.
While visiting in Vienna a short time later,
he was presented with his medal by His Excellency
John Barrett, Canadian Ambassador in Vienna.
Austrian State Secretary for Integration Visits Canada

Ottawa, Aug. 7, 2012:
Sebastian Kurz, State Secretary for Integration in
the Austrian government, paid a working visit to
Ottawa and Toronto from 7 to 9 August 2012 to hold
talks on immigration and integration programs in Canada.

Presentation of Cheque from Wirth Endowment Fund

Edmonton, Feb. 6, 2010:
During the Johann Strauss Ball, the Austrian-Canadian
Council formally presented a cheque for $1,251,226.69
to the University of Alberta.
The money, from the Wirth Endowment Fund, is
for use in maintaining and enhancing the
Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European
Studies, located at the university.

Auslandsösterreicher Treffen und Symposium im Mai 2005
Alle 10 Jahre findet in Ottawa ein Treffen mit einem Symposium der Auslandsösterreicher statt. Das Treffen von Montag, 16. Mai bis Sonntag, 23. Mai 2005 hatte viele Gründe zum Feiern: Ottawa zelebrierte 2005 sein 150-jähriges Bestehen als Stadt. Ebenfalls konnte man feiern: 150 Jahre diplomatische Beziehungen mit Österreich. 50 Jahre Staatsvertrag, 60 Jahre Zweite Republik, 10 Jahre EU Mitgliedschaft, 40 Jahre Austrian Society Ottawa, 30 Jahre Ottawa Schrammel Quartet sowie 10 Jahre Austrian Canadian Council.
